LOUVRE MUSEUM

The Louvre Museum is one of the most renowned museums in the world, attracting more than ten million visitors each year. It has a vast collection of works dating from about 13,000 years ago to today.

The Louvre Museum was founded as a royal palace, but was transformed into a public museum during the French Revolution. 

The museum has five departments: Egyptian Antiquities; Near Eastern Antiquities; Islamic Art; European Paintings; and Sculptures and Decorative Arts.

Located in the heart of Paris, the Louvre is one of the most famous museums in the world. As a result of its popularity, it receives over 8 million visitors each year. The museum has an extensive collection that covers all periods and styles from antiquity to modern day.

The Louvre Museum was initially built as a fortress to protect Paris from invaders and evolved into a museum that housed collections of artworks. 

The Louvre Museum is known for its vast collection including antiquities, Egyptian artifacts, classical sculptures and paintings by European masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian and Rembrandt van Rijn.

The Louvre Museum is located in Paris on the banks of River Seine with a view of Notre Dame Cathedral.
